New York Stock Exchange


The opening of the New York Stock Exchange was delayed after the first plane crashed into the World Trade Center's north tower. The trading for the day was also cancelled after the second plane crashed into the South Tower. The NASDAQ, the London Stock Exchange and other stock exchanges were also cancelled. New York stock exchange was closed until the following Monday. This was known as the third time in history that the NYSE experienced prolonged closure and also the first time since March 1933. The stock exchanged closed between September 10,2001 and September 17,2001. After the initial panic the DJIA quickly rose for a slight drop. Gold prices went upwards from $215.20 to $287. Oil and gas prices also went upwards. New York lost alot of money buy they tried to improve by rising the prices for many things.
